Concrete Mixer Sizes Explained: Which One for Your Site

BuildHub Team9 July 2026

Match the right concrete mixer size to your Cambodian site — from a small 140 L drum mixer to full transit-mix trucks.

Concrete Mixer Sizes Explained: Which One for Your Site

Pouring more concrete than your mixer can keep up with means cold joints — a weak line where the fresh pour meets the hardened one. Right-sizing the mixer avoids this.

Small drum mixers (140–350 L)

  • Output: 1–3 m³ per day
  • Best for: single-storey house, boundary wall, repair work
  • Price to rent: USD 8–15 / day

Medium diesel mixers (500–750 L)

  • Output: 4–8 m³ per day
  • Best for: 2-storey house, small shophouse
  • Price to rent: USD 20–35 / day

Self-loading mobile mixers (1.5–3.5 m³)

  • Output: 15–40 m³ per day
  • Best for: mid-size projects without a batching plant nearby
  • Price to rent: USD 150–250 / day with operator

Transit-mix trucks (6–8 m³)

  • Best for: any slab pour over 10 m³, or where quality control matters
  • Order from a ready-mix supplier like CPAC, INSEE, or Chip Mong.

Quick sizing rule

Take your slab volume, divide by your working day (about 6 hours of pouring). If the required output beats your mixer capacity, upgrade or rent a second unit.
