Roofing Sheets in Cambodia: Metal vs Tile vs Fibro

BuildHub Team9 July 2026

Compare metal, concrete tile, and fibro-cement roofing sheets for the Cambodian climate — cost, lifespan, heat, and noise.

Roofing Sheets in Cambodia: Metal vs Tile vs Fibro

The roof is your first defence against Cambodia's monsoon and 35 °C dry season. Here is how the three main options compare.

1. Colour-coated metal (BlueScope, NS BlueScope, JS)

  • Cost: USD 6–10 / m² installed
  • Lifespan: 15–25 years
  • Pros: light, fast install, wide colour range
  • Cons: loud in rain unless insulated, hot without ceiling

Best for shophouses, warehouses, factories.

2. Concrete or clay tiles (SCG, KCC, CPAC)

  • Cost: USD 12–20 / m² installed
  • Lifespan: 40+ years
  • Pros: cool, quiet, premium look
  • Cons: heavy — needs stronger trusses, slower install

Best for villas and boreys.

3. Fibro-cement (colour or plain)

  • Cost: USD 4–6 / m² installed
  • Lifespan: 10–15 years
  • Pros: cheapest, low maintenance
  • Cons: brittle, older sheets may contain asbestos — always ask for the modern non-asbestos version.

Best for temporary structures, farm buildings, and worker housing.

Beat the heat

Whichever sheet you choose, always add PE foam or aluminium foil insulation under it. This alone drops room temperature by 3–5 °C.
